You will find all you need at the pleasant, little
town of Bedoin: shops, supermarket, doctors, dentists
etc. Busy with holidaymakers in summer, in true rural fashion, it keeps to the seasons
the rest of the year - cherries and asparagus in
spring, grape harvesting in autumn whereas winter brings the truffle season, hunting and olive
picking. Monday morning is market day and colourful
stalls line the streets and locals gather to get the latest news! You will enjoy a drink
or meal on the terrace of a cafe or restaurant
in the shade of an old plane tree, or you may prefer a game of boules, a stroll in the old
streets, a seat by a fountain, a book from the
local library or some wine tasting at a local "cave".

It is a refreshing, leafy refuge from the heat in
the hot summer months. Popular with scientists because of its variety
of climates and rich flora, representing rare and fragile specimens
found in North Africa and even Arctica, UNESCO has made it a Biosphere
Reserve. The fauna is abundant: boars, deer, mountain sheep and chamois
being among the larger species.
